At Lott Physical Therapy & Fitness Center, our PT Wellness Exam is a one-on-one, comprehensive assessment designed to evaluate how your body is moving today and what you can do to stay healthy, mobile, and doing what you love long into the future.
Based on Dr. David Lott’s philosophy of preventative physical therapy, this exam identifies areas of strength and areas that may benefit from improvement. The goal is simple:

Is a PT Wellness Exam Right for You?
Start with this quick self-check. Do you ever notice:
Trouble getting up from a chair without using your hands?
Difficulty touching your toes while sitting?
Needing help to open jars or containers?
Friends or family commenting that your posture isn’t very good?
Feeling uncomfortable walking on uneven surfaces like grass or gravel?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, a PT Wellness Exam can help you catch issues early and create a plan to improve your mobility, comfort, and confidence.
What We Screen For
During your PT Wellness Exam, your physical therapist will guide you through a series of simple tests that look at key areas of movement and function. These screens are safe, comfortable, and tailored to your abilities.
Flexibility Screen
As we age, flexibility often decreases, making everyday movements like bending, reaching, and turning more difficult. Our flexibility testing helps identify areas where tightness may be limiting your motion. This allows us to recommend specific stretches and exercises to improve mobility and help reduce stiffness and pain.
Balance Screen
Good balance is essential for preventing falls and maintaining independence. We’ll assess how steady you are in a variety of positions and situations. Early identification of balance challenges means we can put interventions in place to improve your stability and reduce your risk of falls.
Posture Screen
Posture affects everything from breathing and walking to neck, back, and shoulder comfort. Through posture and mobility testing, we can spot issues (like forward head posture or rounded shoulders) before they lead to bigger problems. We’ll then provide personalized strategies to improve posture, enhance mobility, and help prevent discomfort.
Strength & Endurance Screen
For older adults especially, strength and endurance are key to staying independent and keeping up with daily activities. Our testing helps identify muscle weaknesses and fatigue issues early. From there, we build a personalized exercise plan to improve strength, endurance, and overall function so you can keep doing the things you enjoy.
